Since 2009, David Ray Kiely has served as an adjunct faculty member of the Nonprofit Executive Programs offered by the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business. He brings a wealth of knowledge regarding nonprofits acquired during his career in leading large organizations committed to supporting those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them lead full and rewarding lives.
He has consulted with nonprofit organizations to develop transformational strategic plans and to improve board governance. During his nearly 40 years of being a CEO, he helped lead cutting-edge nonprofits in five states. He helped pioneer innovative services for people with disabilities in major nonprofit organizations in New York, South Carolina, Minnesota and Indiana. David specializes in board governance, strategic thinking/positioning, values-based budgeting, financial sustainability, continuous quality improvement, risk management and innovative strategic growth. He helped resurrect organizations that were having serious financial and programmatic difficulties when he assumed the CEO role.
David has a Masters of Divinity from New York Theological Seminary and a Bachelors of Sociology and Psychology from SUNY Buffalo. He has been appointed to serve on national trade association boards as well as the U.S. Department of Labor Advisory Board and the National Fire Protection Association’s Rules Committee. David has served as a volunteer mentor for SCORE of Michiana specializing in the area of nonprofit organizations.
